The best research usually requires ideas from many diverse
people and the publications as well. The next time you get to read a written
scientific paper, pay close attention to
how many times the authors have done
self-citation. Citing an
Academic paper, that one has written, many times is taking self-promotion extremely far. Maybe, the citation system can
use some peer review of its own. One of the most important factors that make
science unique from magic is the documentation of the chains of the result achieved. It is these citation systems
that do allow the scientist to point out any studies that they may think are
flawed.
Citing an academic paper has been done by teachers also. We
at some point did learn how to cite our sources. It is important to note that
it is not advisable to include Wikipedia when citing an academic work as it has
not been counted as a definitive source.
As the knowledge grows, it gets even
harder to keep track that has similarity to yours. Most people who do research,
get to keep track of prominent journals and the research groups. Even sometimes they do set up save searches on
sites of their field.
At most times, whenever we are citing an Academic paper, we
end up being biased. Most times, researchers do cite
their work, that of their colleagues and those researchers who have excelled in
that field. It has been estimated that most women get cited less in comparison to men. Most researchers believe that the best
discoveries are usually made when one is
reading something which they didn’t the purpose.
They argue that if you want to make discoveries, you cannot know in advance what to
look for.
Science does require a
lot of means to beat its own bias. Citing an Academic paper is therefore not
just enough. Science does require people who are not confined by what was
said but get to see how the future is going to be.
